There are thirty-five confirmed cases of coronavirus in Galway according to the latest HSE figures, released tonight.

This is an increase of two on yesterday’s figure of thirty-three cases.

The number of cases nationally now stands at 1,329. One man in the east of the country has died as a result of the virus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to seven. The man had an underlying health condition, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre’s report this evening.

This evening’s report followed an earlier announcement this afternoon by An Taoiseach, who appealed to people to stay home.

An Taoiseach said that although Ireland was not on total lockdown, further measures will be taken in the coming days to close all “non-essential” businesses and workplaces.
