NUI Galway has been made aware of two confirmed cases of coronavirus amongst their student community.

The university informed students and staff regarding the cases in an email this morning.

“Over the weekend, we were made aware of two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our student community. Both students have been in communication with us,” read the email.

Both patients are currently self-isolating and are said to be “doing well”.

The university reassured staff and students that they were liaising closely with the HSE and will continue to maintain communication with members of their community during this time.

The email comes at the beginning of the university’s second week of online teaching.
