Galway GAA have decided to suspend all adult and juvenile activities “for the foreseeable future” due to the ongoing coronavirus threat.

All fixtures, training and meetings had been banned up until March 29, but these restrictions have now been indefinitely extended.

Club Hurling Championship fixtures scheduled for April have now been postponed.

A statement from Galway county board secretary Séamus Ó Gráda said: “Updates on the resumption of activity and the possible restructuring of some competitions will be notified in due course and will be done in consultation with the Clubs.”

He also stressed that all players, management and officials should continue to observe HSE guidelines surrounding social distancing.

The Galway footballers’ trip to New York has also fallen victim to coronavirus uncertainty and is due to be re-scheduled.

Management and county committee meetings scheduled for later this month have also been postponed.

The GAA is due to host a video conference with county board chairpersons tomorrow to update them with developments.
