Galway serves as the backdrop for Jack McBrinn’s latest release “Sunflower West”

Jack McBrinn is a rising Irish music star from Waterford who has just came out with his latest track inspired by Galway!

Jack was gifted his first guitar at 9 years of age, he started busking at 14 and since then he has been releasing original music and gigging galore. With some upcoming new releases scheduled, Jack is excited for what is to come.

Last week, on September 25, Jack McBrinn released his latest song entitled “Sunflower West”. The inspiration for this song stemmed from his massive love for Galway.

“I just love Galway, I think it’s the best place ever. The people are the best, everyone just seems to be so nice and friendly”, says the 24 year old singer-songwriter.

If you listen to the lyrics you’ll realise: “It’s about finding a nice girl in Galway, a Galway Girl”. Jack’s brand new track “Sunflower West” reached 1,000 streams within the first day of being released. “Sunflower West”, produced by Gavin Doyle, is available to stream on all platforms.

At the end of summer, on August 28 , Jack McBrinn released his single “Bonfire Heart”.

“It was originally called “Bonfire B*tch” but obviously I did have to change that”, he laughs.

The song is: “about a girl I [Jack] had met and then things took a bit of a U-turn, [he] thought things were going well and then she ended up not liking men.”

“The words make sense when you hear the backstory”, he adds.

This single came to life on the roof of a hostel in Austria, using a guitar that had only five strings whilst Jack was inter-railing.

“It was the first time I had picked up the guitar in a month, and I thought ‘I need to write something’. I then got this out.

“I really liked it and said ‘I must release it’. I write a lot of music and it’s a case where anytime I feel any way I just write a song”, Jack explains.

Nowadays, rising stars in the music industry have to wear multiple hats; it’s not just about releasing new music, you also have to invest hours behind the scenes into creating social media content to promote these releases.

Jack McBrinn currently has over 7k followers on TikTok and he posts daily on his social media accounts. However, continuing to grow these accounts is challenging.

He explains: “It is so frustrating to be honest because you could put all this effort into making a good video with lighting and good sound and then you get 300 views. It’s heartbreaking because then you post a random video and it gets 20,000 or 30,000 views out of nowhere”.

Jack McBrinn is no stranger to the world of performing! At the moment, he gigs every week in Dublin. Jack loves to see people up and dancing when he gigs.

Reflecting on his favourite moments performing, he says: “every time I go into Murray’s [on O’Connell Street in Dublin] it’s full of tourists, they’re up dancing in front of you. It makes it so much more fun compared to being in a room with 5 people sitting at a bar and no one is listening”.

During these performances, Jack always manages to sneak in some original material. “It can go a bit quiet when you go from Oasis to an original song that no one has heard”, he chuckles.

You can expect new music from Jack McBrinn over the coming months. He says: “I have 2 more songs planned to come out before the end of the year. I am booked into the studio throughout that, I also hope to have an EP out early next year”.
