It has been announced by ATU (Atlantic Technological University) that several of their part-time undergraduate courses have been made eligible for funding through the SUSI Grant scheme. The objective of this initiative is to increase overall access to higher education opportunities by providing financial support to students pursuing these part-time undergraduate degrees, who are also eligible for funding under the SUSI Grant scheme in Ireland.

The Irish Government has expanded funding from the SUSI Grant scheme to fees for part-time courses, with the requisite that these programmes result in conferring on students’ major undergraduate awards, such as an Ordinary Degree or Honours Degree.

A wide range of part-time flexible programmes, which are offered at ATU campuses in Donegal, Mayo and Galway, have been submitted with approval. This approval has been granted across a selection of awards from Higher Certificates to Honours Degrees. The courses which have been approved span across a range of different disciplines, these include Business, Design, Education, Humanities, Engineering, and Computing.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs & Registrar at ATU has said “We welcome the expansion of the SUSI Grant scheme to part-time learners, as it removes barriers to higher education for a broader cohort of students. Enabling education is a core component of Atlantic Technological University’ Strategic Plan”.

ATU is currently accepting applications for their part-time, online and flexible programmes, this includes all SUSI approved courses.
