An injection of €3.8 million into Galway Cultural Revival Project THRIVE is set to answer the people of Galway’s demands for a new dynamic creative space.
The Nun’s Island Theatre, built circa 1835, and the Church House are significant cultural landmarks which will be honoured and adapted to help the arts community thrive in Galway.
Chief Executive of Galway Council, Leonard Cleary signed a grant agreement with the Northern Western Regional Assembly for the investment.
This multifaceted creative hub will benefit everyone and will have many different facilities to offer.
The so-called CreativeSpace is going to fulfill a vision which has been inspired by a public consultation process from the Urban Lab Galway and in the University of Galway which gathered insights from the local community and stakeholders.
The people of Galway had a strong desire for a space that could accommodate rehearsals, studios, meetings, events and administrative functions.
The European Bauhaus principles of sustainability, aesthetics and inclusiveness are ensured and embodied in this initiative.
This project is the revival of historical buildings, and aims to create a vibrant and viable space that encourages the local community to live, work, and engage with the arts while strengthening the impact EU funds in the region.
