Bohemians v Galway United: Match Preview

Galway United travel to Dalymount Park in Dublin this evening to take on Bohemians in their final game of the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Men’s Premier Division season.
The Tribesmen have enjoyed a successful season in their first campaign in the Premier Division since 2017.
A narrow 2-1 loss against St Patrick’s Athletic in Inchicore and a 2-2 draw to Connacht rivals Sligo Rovers left United just shy of securing European football next season. However, John Caufield’s side has made it a season to remember, and a second win at Dalymount this season would be the perfect way to top it off.
Both sides go into the game in a poor run of form, having picked up just one win each in their last five games. However, Galway has comfortably had a greater season, sitting ten points above the North Dubliners in 5th place. Meanwhile, Bohemians just avoided a relegation playoff with three games to spare and are in 8th place.
It was finely balanced in all of the sides’ three meetings this season, with Bohs picking up one win, Galway picking up one win and the other game ending in a draw. United failed to get revenge on the Dubliners following Bohemian’s FAI Cup Semi-Final victory on Galway soil in 2023, as Bohs ran out 2-0 winners in their first meeting of the season.
Galway did taste victory in their first visit to Dalymount Park in seven years, as a Maurice Nugent goal was enough to secure all three points in Phibsborough. The last meeting between the sides came in July in Eamon Deacy Park, where Bohs took the lead early through a Dayle Rooney penalty. However, a Robert Slevin goal early in the second half meant the spoils were shared.
