Blas na Samhna (A Taste of Galway) brings various food and drink events to Galway City and County throughout November.

A month-long celebration of food and drink, the festival aims to brighten up the winter months with exciting pop-up events, unique dishes and innovative chef collaborations.

The programme of Blas na Samhna is designed to have something for everyone. Whether you’re a family looking to branch out to a new cuisine or a seasoned food enthusiast, there is an event for you.

An event for everyone

Events in Galway City include an exciting ramen and bao pop-up, a chef-swap and an Italian pop-up. These will all take place over the festival month in the Michelin-starred Aniar.

The finest of Portuguese wine will take centre stage on 7 November. You will be brought on a tasting journey designed to take diners through the best of Portugal’s wines and ports, all paired with unique and innovative local cheeses.

A pasta-making workshop with Galway chef Tony Carelli will be taking place on 12 November in Massimos’ Soul Garden. This is a fun and educational option for anyone looking to branch out and make their own fresh pasta.

Blas na Samhna will be celebrated across the county. In Oranmore, there is a special one-sitting ‘Flavours of Normandie’ event at Amorica which takes place on 6 November.

Sustainability and local produce

With a focus on sustainability and local produce, Blas na Samhna attempts to show Galway natives that they do not have to travel far to sample the best of the best food and wine offerings.

Local products which will be featured at the festival include cheeses from Kylemore Farmhouse Cheese and Larry Maguires’ Galway Cheese as well as cocktails designed to showcase Galway’s award-winning Micil Distillery

Irish oysters will also be showcased throughout the festival month, with a gin and whiskey pairing event on 24 November at McSwiggans Bar and Restaurant

The full programme of events taking place as part of Blas na Samhna can be found here.
