Investigation launched after break in at Galway’s Pálás cinema

Burglars broke into Galway’s Pálás Cinema on Tuesday morning.
Pálás Cinema announced the break in on their “X” page, adding that the movie theatre would remain closed until further notice.
“We really appreciate your understanding & support during this time and will keep you updated on when we’ll be re-opening,” the message said.
Pálás later reopened from 5:30PM for the evening screenings.
A Garda Spokesperson said that the investigation into the burglary remains ongoing and refused to share if anything was stolen during the break in. Pálás was contacted for the story, but refused to comment.
No arrests have been made.
Charlene Lydon, an Executive at Element Pictures, which operates Pálás, said on ‘X’ that she is “Absolutely beyond furious to see this happen to Pálás Galway – a gorgeous cultural space in the heart of Galway.”
“Sending love to all the extremely sound and hard-working people who work here,” she added.
Pálás Cinema was opened in February 2018 after a troubled construction dating back to 2009. The Cinema features three screens, a bar and a coffee shop.
