The annual competition organised by Galway City Council is a recognition of efforts made by Galway residents, commercial organisations, and public buildings for maintaining and enhancing their garden spaces. The competition also hopes to encourage the addition of biodiversity in Galway.
Other title winners include; Tony Kelly for the ‘Best Floral Display’, Knocknacarra Park for ‘Best Community Garden’ and many more.
Winners in the schools category include; Galway Educate Together NS for the ‘Best Schools Garden’, and St Patricks Primary for ‘Schools Best Floral Display’.
Tiarnan McCusker, Environmental Awareness Officer, Galway City Council commented, “In line with Galway City Council’s objectives in the Biodiversity Action Plan and the National Pollinator Plan, gardeners were asked to enhance their gardens and green spaces for wildlife and pollinating bees, birds and insects.
Well done to all the 2023 entrants and many thanks to this year’s sponsors Dangan Nurseries and Galway Crystal for their continued support.”
