‘A Community’s Response to Domestic Violence’: Conference to take place in Galway

Western Regional Network is set to host a national conference, ‘The Community Response to Domestic Abuse’, on Friday 18 November.
Members will be celebrating 20 years of the Network in the Western Region, which work covers Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. The event aims to explore and promote the community response to domestic abuse, which underpins their work. 
Don Hennessy, renowned author and counsellor, will be the Keynote Speaker on the day. Mr Hennessy is the author of the best-selling books, “How He Gets into Her Head”, “Steps to Freedom”, and “How He Wins”.
Mr Hennessy is also a relationship counsellor who has worked for many years with women experiencing difficulties with abusive or controlling partners.
Also in attendance will be Independent TD Catherine Connolly, Leas Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, who will moderate a panel discussion on the day.
Contributors to this panel will include representatives from Ruhama, Pavee Point, Safe Ireland, Women’s Aid, Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services, Dundalk Outcomers and An Garda Siochána.
The conference will take place in the Harbour Hotel, Galway and welcomes a varied audience of professionals, non-professionals and the general public. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from a broad range of experts in this field of work and to avail of a question and answer session during the conference.
