New squad and management for Connacht Rugby

Connacht Rugby has announced a U18’s Women’s team and senior coaching management group after a growth in popularity within the province.

Ross Mannion has been appointed Head Coach for the Connacht Rugby Women’s Senior Team.

Fraser Gow returns as Head Coach of the Connacht Rugby U18’s Team, alongside Luke O’Donnell as Backs Coach.

Mannion was Head Coach of the AIL 2C winning Sligo team, he worked with Connacht Rugby as a Club and Community Rugby Officer for 10 years and has worked with some of the current players when they started and got to know some of the other players through programmes within the last two years.

Mannion said he hoped he can help all these players reach there, “potential and fulfil their rugby ambitions or goals.”

Head Coach of the Connacht Rugby U18’s Team Fraser Gow has said: “It’s fantastic to see examples of players that have been developed by our clubs, progressed through the Connacht pathways and are now playing at the highest level. That is something we should all be extremely proud of but equally motivates us to aid the development of the next crop of talented players out there.”

Clubforce Emerging Talent Head Coach, Mary Healy said despite restrictions Connacht Rugby aims for their most comprehensive programme yet.

“I’m looking forward to helping bridge that gap between underage & senior, keeping girls in the game, growing and developing their skills and knowledge so they can take that step up to senior level,” she said.

Currently, only underage non-contact outdoor training in pods of 15 can take place in line with public health advice.
