Restrictions eased in UHG maternity department

By Seoirse Mulgrew

Visiting restrictions have been eased for partners in the maternity department at University Hospital Galway (UHG) as a result of reduced community transmission of Covid-19.

From Monday April 26, partners will be allowed to visit maternity wards for an hour each evening.

Parents who have babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be allowed to visit for 30 minutes a time and partners will be allowed to attend anomaly scans.

The Saolta Hospital Authority says the arrangements will be kept under review in order to protect staff and patients from Covid-19.
