Residents of one estate in Galway city were treated to a surprise concert this afternoon.
With so many confined to their homes for the next fortnight, singer Frank Naughton surprised his neighbours with an impromptu recital outside his front door.
The tenor serenaded residents of the estate for half an hour in the pouring rain with numbers such as Nella Fantasia, Danny Boy, The West’s Awake and Ireland’s Call.
Mr Naughton kept a responsible distance from the crowd on a St Patrick’s Day when pub doors remained shut and formerly-bustling streets lay deserted.
A native of Galway city, Mr Naughton is a well-known classically trained musician and has released a number of albums to date.
He has performed all over Ireland and has previously toured with Ballinrobe native Seán Costello as part of ‘Duo Vocis’.
