Galway City Council has introduced a new Heritage Plan to cover the period from 2025 to 2030.
The plan was designed to guide the preservation and promotion of the city’s rich heritage over the next five years. It provides a structured framework for identifying, conserving, and raising awareness of Galway’s diverse cultural, archaeological, architectural, and natural assets.
The term “heritage” includes monuments, buildings, flora and fauna, heritage parks and gardens, as well as folklore and traditions. The council encourages public engagement and feedback to ensure the plan effectively reflects the community’s values and priorities in preserving Galway’s unique heritage.
The full Heritage Plan can be viewed on the official Galway City Council website at GalwayCity.ie.
