Fever Pitch music festival has named an exciting line up of musical acts for their upcoming festival. Hosted at the Galway Airport on June 1st & 2nd, the festival, known for its eclectic selection of performing artists, is returning for a second year after a successful first event.
Legendary British/Irish band The Waterboys will headline Friday’s festivities. Also playing on Friday will be The Stunning, of Brewing Up A Storm fame, and Aslan.
The following day, Gavin James – twice winner of the Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year – plays. Irish Folk and Americana duo Hudson Taylor will also exhibit their considerable musical talents.
Saturday will also see acts from outside the Irish musical spectrum perform, with Scouting For Girls, whose self titled debut album reached #1 in The UK charts in 2008.
As well as the considerable musical offerings, Fever Pitch – which will run from 14:00 to 23:00 daily – offers a silent disco, a comedy tent as well as full bar facilities and a food village.
Mayor Niall McNelis has welcomed the return of the festival and praised its initial success, which he sees as proof of Galway’s capability to host concerts. McNeilis, of the Labour Party, also welcomed the opportunity it gives local acts to showcase their talents alongside international acts
“It’s important that these events are supported and the good ticket sales show the opportunities to have concerts in Galway,” he said.
“I’m delighted to see The Stunning playing, especially after I awarded them at my recent Mayors Ball,” he added.
