The Village Salthill Saint Patrick’s Day is where it’s at!

Look no further, Salthill is the place to go this Saint Patrick’s Day with something to suit every one of all ages and desires! This is the second year running that The Village Salthill has being in operation. It was set up initially with the idea of putting Salthill back on the map.

After the parade, there is a fun packed afternoon on the cards!

This year is all about the family with the theme being ‘family fun day.’ Such entertainment will include live bands, traditional musicians, face painting and not forgetting ‘the best dressed teddy competition.’ This is most important for the kiddies who wish to bring teddy on a day out!

Also on the day, there will be a special appearance post parade from the highly talented kids at the Phoenix Stage School. Onlookers on the day will be in for a real treat with the spectacular performance lined up.

Show creator Aisling Newe says, “The cast of Celtic Dream look forward to taking part in the St Patrick’s Day festivities in Salthill. Celtic Dream is Galway City’s newest traditional Irish Music and Dance Show launching May 20th in Monroe’s. This exciting new show will run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights throughout the summer.”

Chairperson of the Village Salthill Tom O’Connor says, “this is our second year in operation, so far this has been a huge success for us here in Salthill, the idea of the family day is to give the kids something to do before the parade, we feel it’ll be just perfect for a family day out.”

In recent years, there has being a huge decline in business in Salthill, with many visitors choosing to go to the City Centre instead. The Village Salthill has changed this by having an ongoing campaign to promote the area. They do this via social media and word of mouth.

Tom goes on to discuss the hard work currently carried out by the committee saying “There’s 63 members on the committee meeting once weekly for an hour, our plan is to promote this beautiful part of Galway by whatever means necessary.”

This St.Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday, and Tom suggests that there will be plenty to do around Salthill over the weekend. He mentions all that is happening, saying: “Curry’s Fun-park is coming to town that weekend with the infamous big wheel that people go mad for, it’ll be great for the adults and kids alike being the long weekend. Not to mention discounts available for the local pubs and restaurants.”
